This service call is used to obtain the shortest distance between two ports using default routing.

The default routing in the engine has the following characteristics:-

Environmental, Anti-piracy and ASL routing are complied with, the Panama, Suez canals are open, the Dover, Hainan, Lombok, Sunda, Singapore and Thursday Island straits are open and the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Horn can be used.

The Kiel, Cape Cod, Chesapeake and Delaware and Corinth Canals, Magellan, Bonifacio and Messina Straits, the Bahama Channel, West of Taiwan, North Cape Inshore, Norwegian Indreleia and Inshore routing, West of Gotland, West of Laeso Island, the Maas Inshore route including Steenbank , the Terschellinger bank, non ASL compliant Routing points and the Bangka passage are all closed.

If the Distance returned is negative then this value is the error code, these are tabulated here.

This method requires a 'token' from logging into the service.
